Another coffee my assistant manager, Eleanor, handed me for the first time while working at Pete’s Coffee & Tea was a Sumatra Mandheling. This was by far her favorite from ol’ Alfred Pete’s selection of coffees. Eleanor, if you’re out there reading, I carry this coffee because of you.
I mean it is an AMAZING coffee with a rich, earthy body accentuated by notes of almond and chocolate with a lemongrass kiss for a finish. I’d be a fool of a coffee roaster not to have it in supply. Speaking of supply, Indonesian and African coffees are a bit harder to come by these days. I’m fortunate to have picked some up when I did. Hopefully it’ll be enough until next harvest and then hopefully I don’t have to put up my first born AND an arm and a leg to get some shipped here.
I prefer this bean roasted slightly on the darker side of medium and go for the trusty coffee press when brewing.
